Where Do You Do Your Christmas Shopping?

Would you do your Chrismas shopping in a store that does not recognize, or actively attempts to stiffle the recognition of, Christmas? Would you give your God's given resources to a business establishment that only greets you a "Happy Holiday" rather than a "Merry Christmas"?

A Focus on the Family review of more than 50 prominent retailers’ Web sites and Christmas catalogs during the first two weeks of November revealed that about 40 percent of them suppressed all prominent references to “Christmas,” and over half, at best, provided token acknowledgment of “Christmas.”

Two weeks ago, Dr. James Dobson put out the call to action, highlighting which retailers were ignoring Christmas in their advertising. On today's radio broadcast, he reports which establishments have changed their tune.

Click on the folowing link for a list of the good, the bad, and the ugly retailers.:

I don't know that spiritual activism is the solution. It's like Peter chopping off the ear of one of the people that came to arrest Jesus and he got the Lord's rebuke for doing so......"Those who live by the sword shall perish by the sword". There was that guy in the old testment who reached out to support the Ark of the Covenant from falling off the cart that was being used to carry it back to Israel.....(2 Samuel 6-7: But when they arrived at the threshing floor of Nacon, the oxen stumbled, and Uzzah reached out his hand and steadied the Ark of God. Then the Lord’s anger was aroused against Uzzah, and God struck him dead because of this. So Uzzah died right there beside the Ark of God).

The moral of these is that God does not need us bearing up arms to defend Him. All He expects of us is to be a light in darkness, a salt of the earth - leading all men to Him. Boycotting stores does not lead men to Christ infact it does the opposite.

Your take on this is quite interesting. Did you know that the name Uzzah really means strength?

The strength of man....God does not need. The arms of flesh fail.
